February 18, 2026 | Missouri School for the Blind
On February 18, 2026, students and staff gathered at the Missouri School for the Blind for this year’s Braille Challenge, a competition designed to promote excellence in Braille literacy and academic skills among students who are blind or visually impaired.
Representing his school with determination and Cougar pride, Gage participated in the annual event, accompanied by paraprofessionals Lauren Bourbon and Jessica Owens. The Braille Challenge tests students in areas such as reading comprehension, spelling, speed and accuracy, proofreading, and charts and graphs — all critical skills for academic success.
Although Gage did not place in this year’s competition, his effort and dedication did not go unnoticed. Teachers and supporters praised his hard work, focus, and positive attitude throughout the event.
“Competitions like the Braille Challenge are about growth, confidence, and celebrating literacy,” one supporter shared. “Gage did an awesome job, and we’re incredibly proud of him.”
The Missouri School for the Blind continues to host events like the Braille Challenge to encourage achievement and independence among students. For Gage and his supporters, the day was a reminder that perseverance and effort are victories in themselves.
Go Cougars!
